SMALL BUSINESS BENEFITS

PEO health insurance and a full suite of employer-style benefits for the self-employed

Signing up with a Professional Employer Organization brings you a suite of employer-style benefits you can’t get on your own.

Whether you work on your own or manage a small number of employees, independent contractors with a steady monthly income can sign up for premium health coverage, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plans, and disability insurance, among other top-tier benefits. The PEO acts as your personal HR department, taking care of all the paperwork so you can spend more time doing the work you love.

You can enroll in this program throughout the year.

Your freelance business must be able to support a monthly payroll of about $2,400/month. The majority of this will pay for benefits, taxes, and fees, and some will come back to you as personal income. Fill out the form below to speak with one of our partner’s experts, who will design the right package for you.

How It Works

  • Hire our partner Central Staff Services, a Professional Employer Organization, as your outsourced HR department and work with them to curate the benefits package that fits your needs
  • As a member of the PEO, you have access to a suite of benefits, including health insurance, workers comp, and disability insurance
  • Bear in mind that PEO health insurance may be more expensive than the plans that are available on the individual market

EmblemHealth PEO Plans

  • Emblem Health (HIP Prime network)
  • Larger networks than on the individual market, with premier hospitals
  • Out-of-network coverage

Who Qualifies

  • Independent contractors or small businesses and their employees (if any)
  • Consistent 1099 or business income of at least $2,550/month (in addition to the premium of your chosen medical plan)
  • Located in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Florida
