This study, conducted as a partnership between Freelancers Union, The NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, and Upwork, reveals that one in three New Yorkers is freelancing — including 61% of workers in media and entertainment — and that this workforce contributes more than $31.4 billion annually to the city’s economy.
